The best way to add wavy curls to your wig depends mainly on the type of fiber you are working with. Our virgin remy hair wigs will use a lot of the same tools to style as your regular hair. Keep in mind that synthetic wigs are not made of human hair, so the method of curling will vary.
Traditional Curls
Creating curls on your human hair coarse yaki wig is as easy as curling your own beautiful locks. Arm yourself with the right tools before you start to ensure you get the exact look you desire. For remy hair, you can use a curling iron on a medium setting to create wavy curls. When it comes to curling your hair, keep in mind that the smaller curling wand you have, the tighter your curls will be. For short natural hairstyle we recommend using a 1.5 to 2 inch wand to make lovely wavy curls.
Long Beach Waves
For naturalists wearing our longer lengths of coarse yaki wigs, we have the perfect way for you to add those beachy waves or soft kinks that you covet. You can opt to wear your wig and style it, or you can place it in a wig holder for styling. Set your large curling iron to medium heat and set aside.
Gently brush through your coarse yaki wig to remove tangles and separate the hair into sections. Starting with the front, use your curling iron and curl your first section towards your face. Hold for a few moments, but not so long as to burn the strands. Release and move the next section.
Curl the second section the same as the first, but instead, curl the hair away from your face. Repeat the curl in alternating directions over your whole wig until you are done. This will give you a head full of abundant and luscious curls. Using a wide tooth comb, or your fingers, gently run through your curls once to loosen them, giving them that perfect look of romantic wavy curls. To hold the style, use a gentle non-drying product.
Chic Mid-Length Styles
To add wavy curls to your medium coarse yaki wig, you will want to do things a little differently. This method will give your hairdo a lot of style and body, without the hassle of sitting in the salon for hours. With longer hair, tighter curls are easy to pull out, but with short lengths of yaki hair, a tight curl will give you a different look instead of the soft wavy curls you intended. Set your 1.5-inch curling iron on bedim heat and set aside. Gently brush through your coarse yaki wig to remove tangles and separate the hair into sections.
Starting with the front, use your curling iron and curl your first section towards your face. With medium and short length hair, speed is the key. The longer you keep your hair on the curling wand, the tighter your curl will be. Hold the section for no more than a few seconds. Release and move the next section.
Curl the second section the same as the first, but instead, curl the hair away from your face. Repeat the curl in alternating directions over your whole wig until you are done. To add a bit of volume to your kinky curls, lay the warm iron along the roots of your hair at the top of your head for a second or two, this will provide volume instantly. With your fingers add a small amount of fixing product, such as curl construct mousse then run through your curls to loosen them. This will give you a perfectly polished look that lasts all day.
